Choosing Places to Cross Country Ski
Cross Country Skiing in Indiana is seldom far from home. Most places you would normally take a walk or go for a hike are equally well suited to cross country skiing. Local parks, public school campuses, golf courses, and community trails are usually welcoming to cross country skiers. County and States Parks provide thousands of miles of fantastic hiking trails, ready to be skied every winter.
Things to Remember...
- Always ask permission before skiing on privately owned land
- If skiers are welcome at your local golf course, never ski over the greens as this can damage the turf
- If skiing on land that is open to hunters, be certain to verify with the property manager where it is okay to ski and make sure to wear hunter orange during the hunting season.
